Learn to Curl
Have you ever sat and watched the Brier or Scotties and wondered if you could do that? Am I too old? What if I fall? Is it really cold? I don't have a broom! Well, we at the Omemee Curling Centre want to help. We are a fun group of people who like to get together and curl. We come in all ages and skill levels. While some of us are competitive and have the ability to take the sport beyond the local club, most of us are here for a great social experience and to play an exhilarating game.
This fall we are starting something new, which we are calling Learn to Curl. The LEARN TO CURL program is a fun, social way to learn this exciting game. Qualified instructors will show you how to throw a stone (or an alternate method for those with bad knees), what an "out turn" is, the proper way to sweep, and many more aspects of the game. There will be on-ice instruction as well as off-ice presentations. Starting in January, you will take what you have learned and put it into practice. We will form you into teams and play fun, non-competitive games each week. No need to rush home after the game as the lounge is open. Sit, relax and enjoy a bit of social time with a drink and a snack with your friends. What a great way to survive our long Ontario winters!
